Our Courses – A creative experience. Come along to our introductory workshops and have a hands on experience learning the basic forging skills of the Blacksmith. All our courses are designed to be safe, educational, creative, enjoyable and suitable for beginners.

9Irons craft Forge. Our forge is situated in a peaceful rural setting close to the village of Carracastle in Co mayo. The old stone forge building on the edge of the bog is a beautiful place to work.

The Tutor. Patrick Strahan has many years’ experience working as a blacksmith, specialising in workshops, restoration, demonstrations and creative engagement projects in schools. He is member of the Irish Blacksmiths Association, and also on the educational panel for the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.

What to wear: Work clothes, long sleeves and boots, we supply safety wear, glasses, aprons gloves, and ear defenders.

Lunch: Lunch included.

Accommodation: Accommodation available on site and local.
